Song 6 Animatic

Hi folks,

Here's the animatic for Song 6, Kissin' Spree. Only one more song to go!

Some parts are still a bit confusing, but I'm on it...enjoy!

My latest update to the shot list leads me to believe there will be roughly 200 shots in Ladies Knight. With an estimated 20 weeks of animation, and about 5 days for animation per week, I need to animate 2 shots every day on average. That means: try for 3 shots every day just to be safe.

  1. If you have to do two shots a day, it's probably too much.

Think about it: The majority of the eight and a half minutes has to be lip synced and timed to music. I've done enough sync, both for my films and for my internship, to know that with that amount of dialogue, the sound reading alone is going to take you about a week.

Also, the film has loads of incidental background characters, in addition to your FIVE main characters, not to mention a ton of really elaborate backgrounds. (Is that fire in the dragon's castle? Will it be moving?) And I know you have reusable assets and everything, but the character designs still have a lot pieces, and that's going to take a while.

200 shots is about 70 more than me, and my schedule is no picnic. You said that one shot you posted on Monday took less than three hours to make, so I'll assume that means it still took more than two. It was about a second long, with no lip sync or locomotion. Everything else you're going to have to do will be a lot harder than that, and will take a lot longer. Not to mention, you said you'll start animating much later than everyone else, so that's a big factor, too.

I'm not trying to be a bummer, I'm just trying to help, the only way I can, by giving you my honest advice, based on my knowledge and experience.
I know you're a good and capable animator, but this current workload is risky. I really recommend you cut it down.

  2. "That's never happened before" is pretty funny.

  3. "Uh... I'm colour-blind" got me for some reason
